Creativity matters! The Arts provide a process that has no rules or limitations and allows children to learn at the pace that they need to. It is our firm belief that children learn best when they are allowed to have a creative outlet – our mission is to provide that outlet.

Our Sitters Are Trained and Certified
Our Sitters are trained and certified in CPR and First Aid through the American Heart Association. Our training focuses on prevention, information and instruction when caring for your little one. Our Sitters also attend educational workshops throughout the year.
We Run A Detailed Background Check ON All Sitters
Safety is our first priority. We complete thorough background checks on all of our Sitters, surpassing industry standards. We conduct several interviews and also require multiple references prior to hiring our Sitters.

Not only do we donate/volunteer our time and services (see our blog for details), we also donate 5% of our profits at the end of each year to various charities dedicated to helping children, such as Children’s Aid.
Our Story
Creative Sitters, LLC, is the brain child of our founder, Renee Pena.
As an arts educator, parents often employed Renee’s babysitting services because of her unique ability to bring out the inner artist, actor, dancer, naturalist and idealist in the children she cared for. This came from the belief that each child has the ability to learn, as long as they care about what they are learning. One mother called her the “Piped Piper of Children.”
Renee knew that there had to be other like her who love kids and love to use their art education background in a different capacity than the classroom. And so she went searching for like-minded individuals and that led to the birth of Creative Sitters, LLC. Renee’s many years of experience in childcare as well as her artistic approach to teaching young children allows her see the value of employing art as a medium with infinite benefits.
Ms. Pena holds a B.A. in Dance and Integrated Arts from Bard College and has had the joy of working in many kids-art based organizations, such as El Museo del Barrio, City Lights Youth Theater, Notes in Motion, and Discovery Programs. She is currently attending Mercy College to get her M.A. in Early Childhood Education and Special Education.
Yanira Quinones, Creative Sitter Recruiter
Yanira has always loved working with children ~ even at a young age when she started working as a mother’s helper at the age of 10 years old, and then babysat for families through her high school years. She maintained that love of working with children into her adult years where she has worked in Early Intervention, coordinating cases for Westchester County and later work in a classroom setting at Bank Street College of Education. As a mom of two children, Yanira understands the trails and tribulations in finding a quality sitter. Finding sitters that hold up to the “mom test” is important to Creative Sitters which is why it is so wonderful to have Yanira on the Creative Sitters team!
